Part of the international Trent-Severn
Waterway System, Rice Lake is 23 miles long and 3 miles across.
For over 150 years, Rice Lake has been a prime destination for
people. A very fertile lake, the weeds provide excellent cover
and food for the fish population that includes Panfish (perch,
bluegill, sunfish and crappie), Walleye, Muskie, and Large and
Smallmouth Bass
Rice Lake has a unique distinction of being not far from the wilderness,
yet close to urban amenities. Guests can enjoy the serene solitude
of a big lake set amongst beautiful scenery or hop in the car
for a short drive to shopping, dining, theatre, and cultural events.
Rice Lake is a shallow lake, it features marshes and wetlands
at the mouths of the Otonabee, Ouse, and Indian Rivers that flow
into the lake. These areas are home to turtles, beavers, muskrats,
and many other animal species that can be observed via canoe or
kayak.
Ice Fishing on Rice Lake – There has been changes to Zone
