 We are a historic lakefront resort and marina conveniently located on the south shore of Rice Lake just 120 km east of Toronto with many amenities close by. We offer an affordable destination for a family vacation, fisherman's getaway or to enjoy the abundant wildlife. Many people ask us if we are waterfront. You can't get more waterfront with several cottages over the water and none more than 150 feet from the water. Our marina is very well protected and offers seasonal and transient dockage, and boat rentals, all supported by our many years of boating experience. We are located in the village of Gore's Landing and offer 1, 2, 3 & 5 bedroom self-catering cottages in an idyllic setting overlooking the islands. Each cottage has its own personality which is unique. Ours include the quaint 1 and 2 bedroom waters edge cottages, the very open and barn like 1920 McGaw boathouse and the 1838 two story John Bennett Ferry House that served patrons of the old ferry dock still in use today as a public park. Call and we can discuss which cottages best match your style and needs. Each cottage has a well-equipped kitchen including refrigerator, electric range, microwave, and all the pots, pans and dishes you should need. We also have 2 or 3 piece bathrooms, electric heating, and full-sized gas barbeques (propane included) for each cottage. For those of you who like to keep in touch, we have high-speed internet access with a terminal in the reception area and a WiFi that covers about half the cottages, so bring your laptop to send pictures to your friends! We offer boat rentals for fishing, bird watching, and sightseeing to both cottage guests and day visitors. A canoe and paddle boat are free to cottage renters on an as available basis. Call for our informal, no hassle daily rental reservations. Plank Road Cottages & Marina is a Certified Wildlife Habitat with abundant wildlife on the grounds and near-by including our resident Great Blue Heron and many other bird species, muskrat, beaver, fox, mink, turtles, and of course fish. We purchased Plank Road in March, 2006 and have worked hard to establish a new standard of comfort and quality without losing the rustic, historic feel. The feedback from returning and new guests has been outstanding! They agree; improve but don't lose the rustic charm. That is what we are doing. Plank Road Cottages & Marina has dockside depths of 7ft., slips for boats up to 45ft, shore power, water, gas, oil, ice, and a central shower house. More important, we know boaters and how to help with those little things to keep you on the water. Safety on the water is paramount! If you have any issue, be it weather, equipment or medical, come in and we will do what is needed to see that you are safe! |
